TRANSPORTATION LAB

The Transportation Engineering lab has the equipment, required to conduct all standardized tests to assess the quality of highway materials, pavement evaluation and traffic engineering studies. This lab is equipped with the equipment to test bitumen, aggregate and bituminous mixture and confirm the material requirement as per relevant standards. The objective of Transportation Engineering laboratory is to determine some of the properties of coarse aggregates and bitumen. This laboratory course will help the students to understand the theoretical concepts learned in the course transportation engineering.

MATERIAL TESTING LAB II

The Material Testing Lab II (Concrete Laboratory) in the Department of Civil Engineering primarily includes experimental studies on different types of materials which are using in concrete and testing of concrete specimens in various exposure conditions. This lab is of utmost importance for a Civil Engineering student as it deals with the testing of various construction materials such as cement, aggregates, concrete (both fresh and hardened), tiles and bricks. The Concrete Laboratory also offers technical services for testing and research on the structural behaviour and properties of materials. Concrete Lab is occupied with modern pieces of equipments like Digital cum analog UTM of 100 tones capacity with PC, Digital Compression Testing machine of 200 tones capacity Hot Air Oven, Table vibrators, Cement mortar mixing machine, Vicat-Needle apparatus, Sieve Shaker, Concrete workability apparatus, Rebound hammer with digital recording monitor, VB apparatus, Los Angeles Abrasion Tester, etc.

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING LAB

Geotechnical engineering laboratory helps in identifying the engineering behaviour of geo-materials (soils and rocks) and by-products such as fly ash etc. Geotechnical investigations are performed by geotechnical engineers or engineering geologists to obtain information on the physical properties of soil and rock around a site to design the type of foundations, earthworks such as dams, embankments, tunnels, reservoirs, pavement subgrades, and specialized applications like waste containment systems. Therefore, geotechnical engineering laboratory has a great role to play in rendering the subsurface a safe and stable load bearing medium.
